On the auspicious Navmi (6th April), offer Kumkum, Sringar and chunri at the powerful Vindhyachal Dham, Mirzapur. In the Durga Saptashati, when the gods praised her, Maa declared: In Dwapar Yuga, I will take birth as Yashoda’s daughter, reside in Vindhyachal, and destroy the demons. Vidhyanchal is also the place where Maa Durga killed demon Mahisasura after a 9 day battle.

Chaitra Navratri marks the start of the Hindu New Year and has deep historical and spiritual significance. It is believed that Lord Brahma began the creation of the universe on this day. Ancient scriptures mention that during this time, cosmic energies are at their peak, making it ideal for spiritual growth and new beginnings. Kings and sages in Vedic times observed this period with devotion, fasting, and prayers to seek divine guidance. Even today, it remains a sacred time for worship, self-discipline, and inviting prosperity.

Maa Vindhyavasini Temple in Vindhyachal, Mirzapur, is a revered Shaktipeeth where Maa Vindhyavasini, an incarnation of Adi Shakti, chose to reside after slaying Mahishasura. As per Devi Bhagavata Purana, she escaped Kansa’s attack in her infant form and manifested in the Vindhya Mountains. A key site in the Trikona Parikrama, along with Kali Khoh and Ashtabhuja Devi, the temple has been a center of devotion for centuries, drawing thousands of devotees, especially during Navratri.
