On the auspicious Chaitra Navmi (6th April), offer chunri at the powerful Vaishno Devi Temple, Katra. One of the major Shaktipeeths, it is believed that Mata Sati’s head fell here. Mata is supposed to be the manifestation of all 3 divine goddesses – Lakshmi (the goddess of fortune), Saraswati (the goddess of wisdom), and Durga (the goddess of transformation.

Chaitra Navratri marks the beginning of the Hindu New Year and is dedicated to honoring the divine feminine energy through the worship of Goddess Durga and her various forms. This sacred period, observed with fasting, prayers, and rituals, offers an opportunity for devotees to purify their mind, body, and soul, seeking blessings for prosperity, strength, and spiritual growth. The nine-day festival symbolizes the victory of good over evil, and by participating in the worship during this time, individuals can invoke the divine power of the Goddess to overcome personal challenges, attain inner peace, and ensure the well-being of their families and communities.
