Gadhkalika or Ujjain Mahakali Temple is one of the 18 Shakti Peethas of India where the upper lip of Devi Sati had fallen during Lord Shiva’s Tandav. The temple is dedicated to Maa Kali, the fierce and powerful form of Mata Parvati associated with destruction and creation. On the auspicious Saptami of Navratri (10th Oct), seeking the blessings of Goddess Kali at this sacred site can bring protection, prosperity, and liberation from worldly sufferings. It is believed that she provided wisdom and knowledge to the great poet Kalidas.
